It's Monday I know, but I am here today with a colorful new review on the latest installment to the Anastasia Beverly Hills brand, Artist Palette. You know when you see something but say you don't want it? You don't need it? Your on a no buy but somehow it ends up in your hands anyway?
Maybe that's just me... Well that's my story on how this match came to be. I was instantly drawn to the vivid colors in Anastasia Beverly Hill's new palette but I wasn't sure I would get much use out of it.
One of my Kinks saw my Tweet on getting this palette & challenged me to the One Week, One Palette challenge. She told me she wanted the palette but was wondering if she would be able to really get some use out of it. Since KCM is all about you Kinks I gladly accepted. The One Week, One Palette challenge is quite simple, you have to use one palette of the challengers choice for entire week. Trick is you can't do the same look in the week twice or your cheating!
Anastasia Beverly Hills says this about the Artist Palette: "This limited-edition, fashion-forward eye shadow kit is the ultimate makeup artist’s palette. Twelve heavily-pigmented shades ranging from a neutral dusty rose to a dramatic emerald green—deliver smooth, intense color so you can create an endless array of looks."
Shade Descriptions:
Buttery: A matte, buildable beige
Dusty Rose: A soft, satiny mauve
Phresh: A vibrant, happy yellow
Blue Velvet: A deep, intense navy
Orange You Fancy: A fiery, burnt orange
Beigely: A glimmering, neutral greige
Coal: A sultry, inky black
Anaconda: A sparkling, jungle green
Punch Fuschia: A vibrant orchid hue
Unicorn: A shimmering periwinkle
Baby, I’m a Star: A copper-flecked brown
Aubergine: A moody, eggplant purple
Honestly I like this palette a lot, this was a great way for me to experiment with color & I find the formula to be very buttery.
While I do like this palette I feel like this palette is more geared to a color lover because 8 of the 12 shaded are bright, bold, or deep with only 4 neutrals. I would recommend wearing a primer with these eyeshadows especially if you want the vibrant colors you see in the pan. I personally used colors like Phresh with my NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in Milk underneath for that "Knock'em Dead" look. While this palette does look intimidating I found that I could make some really fun, beautiful and work appropriate looks out of it.
Personally I feel like the colors in this palette are kind of random but in a good way especially if your like me and have a lot of neutral colors. I feel like you can get some great looks out of this palette alone, but I would rather this for pops of colors in my looks.
My Favorite Colors: Dusty Rose & Orange You Fancy
My Least Favorite Colors: Unicorn
Okay for the wrap up, I don't think this limited edition palette is a must have but if your looking for subtle buildable colors I would purchase it. I like the consistency of these eyeshadows & they are fun colors. This palette retails for $30 and is completely sold out online from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Website.
